Suffixes -cial and -tial

Both -tial and -cial suffixes turn nouns into adjectives. They are used in different circumstances.- tial is usually used after a vowel and -cial is usually used after a consonant. Below are some practices for changing words to have a -cial or -tial ending.

Since the root word for -tial and -cial suffixes tend to be latin, only learning how to add the -cial and -tial onto the end of a word is not as helpful. We should also focus on helping students know the spelling of words with -tial or -cial endings.
